Intro for International Full Degree Students

Please see the intro week programme below and be aware that your study programme might also organise intro activities for you Thursday or Friday (or in the week after). We look forward to seeing you on campus!



SUNDAY 18 August: Welcome Event for All AU Students

Who: All new international students at Aarhus University

Time: Sunday August 18, 12:00-16:00

Place: On campus, by the Lakeside Auditoriums, Bartholins Allé 3, 8000 Aarhus C

Registration: Registration is required. You will receive a link via email. 

Host: International Office, AU

Programme: 

This is your first day on campus! We will welcome you and you will get a great chance to meet your fellow students and to be introduced to your new university and city, as well as Danish culture and language.

Presentations: 

- Welcome to Aarhus University, the city of Aarhus and Studenterhus Aarhus (45 mins): 12:30 // 13:30 // 14:30

- Introduction to Danish (45 mins): 12:30 // 13:30 // 14:30

- Q&A with current students: 13:00 // 14:00 // 15:00 

- Be introduced to Trust and what it means for Danish culture (short film with AU Professor Gert Tinggaard Svendsen will be shown several times during this afternoon)

Before, after or in-between presentations:

- Visit our handpicked info- and student relevant booths: 12:00-16:00.

- Enjoy fun games and relaxing hanging out with your fellow students and the Studenthouse.

- Come by our AU Water Bottle booth to pick up your free water bottle.

The day is 100% FREE for you! Remember to either have lunch before the event or bring your own lunch. 

MONDAY 19 August: Online CPR (social security number) Q&A Event

Q&A session about social security number etc. (optional)

Who: All new international students at AU

Time: 9.00-10.00 am CET 

Place: Online, link will be sent by mail

If you have questions about getting your social security number, you are welcome to drop into this Q&A session, where we will be ready to answer your questions.

MONDAY 19 August: Welcome Event for Aarhus BSS Students (Aarhus campus)

Who: All new full degree international students studying at Aarhus BSS in Aarhus at Aarhus University. An invitation will be sent to you via email in early August. Please note that sign-up is required.

Time: 10.30-14

Place: On campus - more info will follow via email. 

Host: Aarhus BSS, International Office

Programme of the day: 

  • “Your journey begins here” – Lene Birkegaard Pedersen and Nikoline Ohnemus Christensen, student counsellors
  • “How to find a student a student job and what can you do yourself” - Marianne Skade, Career Counsellor
  • Meet our current international students
  • Networking and Q&A
  • Lunch – free sandwich will be served.
  • Meet Aarhus BSS services for international students and get answers to your questions.

MONDAY 19 August: Welcome Event for Aarhus BSS Students (Herning campus)

Who: All new full degree international students studying at Aarhus BSS, Herning campus (sign-up necessary - invitation will be sent via email)

Time: 10-13.30

Place: On campus in Herning - more info will follow

Host: Aarhus BSS, International Office

WEDNESDAY 21 August: Welcome Event for Students from Natural and Technical Sciences

Who: All international students studying at the faculties of Natural and Technical Sciences at Aarhus University. An invitation will be sent to you via email in late June. Please note that sign-up is required.

Time: 10:00-14:00

Place: Building 1534-125 (Auditorium F)

Host: International Office, AU

Programme of the day: 

10.00-11.45:

- Welcome and programme of today
- Learn about different societies and networks 
- How to find a student job and what can you do yourself?
- Career activities in the fall semester
- Introduction to the library
- Welcome by Vice-dean of Education

12.00-13.00:

Lunch (free sandwich will be served) - Math Canteen and surrounding area

13.00-14.00:

Fun and games in the University Park
