Call for course proposals and application guide

Information about teaching at AU Summer University

It is no longer possible to apply to become a guest lecturer at AU Summer University 2023.

We expect to open for applications in May and the application deadline will be around mid-August 2023 (for 2024 courses).

This is your chance to become a vising teacher at a top 100 university, at a university which vision is to be a research-intensive university that aspires to the highest international quality and excels in creating value through knowledge, new insights and collaboration, in addition to facilitating connections between Denmark and the world.

Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D degree and will be selected according to their teaching and research experience, and publication record within the field of the proposed course.

Important dates

Mid-August 2023
Application deadline (TBA). Please beware of time differences. The application closes at 23.59 Danish time.

Mid-September
Candidates will be contacted if their course has been selected. Candidates should be prepared to submit an extended course proposal for final approval late September. 

Teaching periods for 2024:
You can choose to run your course in 
Term 1: 1 - 19 July 2024 
or
Term 222 July - 9 August 2024

You are expected to teach all weekdays, start and end date included. Teaching hours per course is 30 hours for 5 ECTS courses and 60 hours for 10 ECTS courses, which means a daily class schedule of 9-12/9-13. Class sizes range from 20-40 students.

Besides teaching, we expect you to assess the written exam and two retakes.

Financial matters

The salary offered is:

  • 6,375 EURO for teaching a 5 ECTS course
  • 8,500 EURO for teaching a 10 ECTS course

We also pay your travel costs (economy class)

Your salary will be subject to taxation in Denmark, and the tax rate will be around 25%. Double taxation agreements may have an influence on the total taxation of your income in Denmark when declared at home.
