You can find a list of which classes are situated in which classrooms here.
Almost all Summer University courses are located in Nobelparken.
All classrooms in Nobelparken have chairs, tables, a whiteboard and a projector with various kinds of cable cords for all computers, including mac.
Some classrooms have whiteboard markers in them already but if yours doesn't, we have some extra ones in the Information Desk. Just ask for them whenever you need them.
We also have glue, scissors, permanent markers and pens in the Information Desk that you can borrow at any time.
Most classrooms have extension cords attached to the bottom of the tables so that all students have access to them. However, some rooms might lack them. In that case, we have extra cords in the Information Desk that you can borrow at any time.
If you need to find your classroom, a helpful way to do so is by using the app called AU Find. The app allows you to search for the building number and will show you where the building is on a map of AU.
You can also type in the building number manually on this page to have it shown on a map without the app.
Once you arrive to the right building, you need to find your classroom. The first number in your room number is the floor: If your room number is 123, your classroom is on the 1st floor which at AU is the ground floor. If your room number is 224, your classroom will be on the 2nd floor, and so on.
If you need any supplies for your course, i.e. paper, cardboard, glue, pencils, pens etc., you can contact us on summeruniversity@au.dk before your course starts.
Then we will make sure to buy your needed supplies beforehand so they are ready for your course.
If you wish so, we will bring the supplies to your classroom on the first day of your course.
If you need supplies during your course, please ask us in the Information Desk (building 1451, room 116) and we will do whatever we can to get the supplies for you.
If you need something printed for yourself or your class, please send an email to summeruniversity@au.dk, and we will print it for you.
You can pick it up at the Information Desk.
Please note that we need to receive the documents before 1 PM if you want to collect them the next morning at the Information Desk.
Wireless internet is available in all buildings at Aarhus University. To access the internet from your Mac or PC download the settings from eduroam.au.dk/en and log on to Eduroam.
The AU login for Eduroam is au<AUID>@uni.au.dk (e.g. au123456@uni.au.dk) and the same password you used for e.g Brightspace (your password for https://mitstudie.au.dk). You will receive an email with your AU ID from the Summer University Administration. If you cannot remember your password (or haven’t logged in to Brightspace or mitstudie.au.dk before) you can retrieve your (new) password here.
To access the internet from your smartphone pick the Eduroam network and type in username and password.
At the AU Library in Nobelparken you will be able to consult the books in the study area. Furthermore, the Royal Danish Library has an extensive electronic journal database, which you can use by logging on as a lecturer at the library or anywhere on campus with your AU ID. Visit AU Library, Nobelparken on campus or the website for more details.
You have online access to the library databases through the Internet.

At the Summer University Information Desk we will do our best to support you.
The Information Desk can be found in building 1451, room 116.
Opening hours

On the first day of each term (Tuesday 2 July and Monday 22 July) the Information Desk will be open from 8.00.
You are also always welcome to send us an e-mail at summeruniversity@au.dk or call the Information Desk at +45 93 50 93 68.
The Information Desk room is also the room of the Guest Lecturer Lounge. The lounge is a place for you and your fellow lecturers to hang out before and after classes as well as in your breaks.
In the guest lecturer lounge, we make sure to always serve you hot coffee or tea, cookies, chocolate and fruit - all free of charge for guest lecturers. You are not allowed to bring the snacks and drinks to your students.
Besides the Guest Lecturer Lounge we have booked a seperate room as an Open Office Space for Summer University guest lecturers.
It is located in building 1451 room 318 and is open from 8.00-17.00 Monday-Friday.
In the office, we will put up fresh water and snacks every day so you have something to eat and drink when you are there.
With the Open Office Space you have a seperate place to prepare your classes, answer e-mail etc. as well as meet other guest lecturers.
You are of course also welcome to do that in the Guest Lecturer Lounge, however there will be noise and chatting in the lounge since it is also our Information Desk and Summer University work space. Therefore, if you want some peace and quite, we recommend you to sit in the Open Office Space.
The canteen in Nobelparken is the place for the weekly guest lecturer coffee.
Once a week, the Summer University team will invite all Summer University lecturers for a cup of free coffee or another hot beverage as well as a little snack - i.e. a piece of cake or a granola bar.
This is a way to meet and socialize with other lecturers as well as meeting the Summer University team, who you have probably been in contact with on e-mail.
We hope that you will join.
Depending on where you are travelling from, the most common ways of arriving to Aarhus are:
Location: 45 km northeast of Aarhus. There are direct flights to Aarhus Airport from some European cities and Copenhagen. The airport bus is linked to most incoming/outgoing SAS flights and stops both close to the University and in Aarhus city centre. It takes 50 minutes to get to Aarhus city centre and costs around 115 DKK.
Location: 100 km southwest of Aarhus. Aarhus is also serviced by another international airport, Billund Airport. There is an airport bus from the airport to Aarhus City (bus 912X; from the Aarhus Bus Station) which takes 1 hour 30 minutes and costs around 150 DKK.
Location: Copenhagen. Copenhagen Airport is the main international airport in Denmark and there are direct flights to Copenhagen Airport from most European cities. When you arrive at Copenhagen Airport, you can either continue your flight to Aarhus or Billund Airport or catch a train or bus towards Aarhus.
You can take a direct train to Aarhus from Copenhagen Airport or Copenhagen Central Station. The train takes 3–3.5 hours and they leave for Aarhus twice per hour. For more information on train departure times, please visit the website of DSB, Denmark’s State Railway company, at www.dsb.dk.
Aarhus is relatively easy to access by train from a variety of cities and European countries. The Danish network of trains is well developed.
Aarhus Central Station (Hovedbanegården) is located in Aarhus city centre at the end of the main shopping street. Outside the station, you will find a taxi rank and bus stops for most city busses.
FlixBus operates within Denmark and many other European cities and offers a cheaper alternative to the train. The service between Copenhagen and Aarhus departs from Copenhagen Central Station or Copenhagen Airport and runs several times a day. Tickets can be booked on their app 'FlixBus' or on their website.
Another alternative is Kombardo Expressen, another bus company which will take you from Aarhus to Copenhagen via ferry. Prices start at 99 DKK. Tickets can be booked on their app 'Expressen' or on their website.
A third bus company is Fleet, which also offers busrides from Copenhagen to Aarhus and vise versa. Tickets can be booked on their app 'Fleet' or on their website.
For international bus connections, Flixbus is a possible choice.
The Aarhus Bus Station (Rutebilstationen) is located 5 minutes’ walking distance down the street from Aarhus Central Station. Some city buses also stop at the Aarhus Bus Station and most regional buses arrive/depart from there.
It is expensive to own a car in Denmark, so many people choose public transportation instead. If you wish to use your foreign car in Denmark, you must register it within 14 days upon arrival in Denmark. Registration of vehicles is administered by DK tax authority, where you can also find rules and tax rates for imported cars. Some countries must also convert their driving license within 14 days after establishing residence. Please check all the information before bringing your car to Denmark at skat.dk
If you bring your own car, you will be able to find parking both in the city centre and on campus. Whilst parking on campus is free, you will need to pay on the streets outside of campus. Once you find your parking space, you need to locate the closest parking meter in order to pay for a parking ticket. Please note the parking fines are expensive in Denmark.
To park on campus, you will need to registrer your car in AU's system, so you are allowed to park there. We will send you an e-mail with information on how to do that.
If you need to get somewhere fast and easily, you can always call one of the city taxis although they are quite expensive compared to other countries. However, they are safe, reliable, and comfortable.
Aarhus Taxa: +45 89 48 48 48 - they also have an app on which you can order a taxi from. Read more about it here.
DanTaxi: +45 86 16 47 00 - they also have an app on which you can order a taxi from. Read more about it here.
Swapfiets: You can also rent a bike for a full month here in Aarhus. This prices include service if it breaks down. In case this happens, they will come to you and swap it to a new one, thus their name Swapfiets. After placing the order, the bike will be delivered to you. Please note that the minimum contract period is one month with one month notice. Read more about it here.
The city bus network of Aarhus is well developed. The yellow city buses can take you all over the city. Midttrafik is the bus company that runs the yellow and blue buses. On their website you will find the timetables for the different bus routes. Tickets can be bought from a ticket machine in the bus for DKK 22 or via the Midttrafik app. The app can be in English.
If you are planning on taking the bus almost every day, you can buy a monthly Transit Ticket on the Midttrafik app. To buy the pass, you need to create an account on the Midttrafik app, so that the pass gets saved on your account. Once you have created your account, you have to enter your "departure" and "arrival" address. It can be the address of where you are staying in Aarhus and then the address for Aarhus University. Then the app will calculate how many zones your transit pass must be in order to cover your route. In most cases, it will be 2 zones since it covers the whole of Aarhus city centre. However, the "departure" and "arrival" address does not mean that you can only use your transit pass for that specific route. You can use your pass for all travels within the zones that your pass covers. That means, that if your pass covers two zones, you can travel freely on every bus and every light rail within the two zones. Once you have chosen the addresses, you need to choose a form of identification for when the conductor comes on the bus and checks your ticket. If the conductor comes and asks to see your ticket, you simply show him/her your pass on the app as well as your chosen identification (i.e. drivers license or passport).
It is also possible to ride the light rail train. The light rail ticketing works the same way as in the buses and you can also use the Midttrafik app for it.
For planning your journey in Aarhus, or for travelling within Denmark, the website Rejseplanen.dk provides an excellent tool that is similar to Google Maps. You can choose to have the app in English.
All Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted at institutions of higher education in Denmark. This also entail Aarhus University and therefore we at Aarhus University follow the recommendations made by the Danish Health Authority which you can read more about here.
