AU Housing offers housing services to international guest lecturers teaching at the AU Summer University 2026.
In January 2026 we will ask you to indicate your housing preferences and plans for your stay by submitting a form. You will receive instructions via email.
Below you can find information about the following housing options: staying at the IC Dormitory, staying in a private Danish home, Staying at The Department of Mathematics guest accommodation, or finding housing on your own.

The IC Dormitory has an attractive location on campus (map). The furnished single rooms (28), double rooms (2) and one-bedroom apartments (2) are normally used for PhD students, however during the summer it is a popular choice for AU Summer University guest lecturers staying in Aarhus by themselves or with a partner.
Housing at the IC Dormitory is available in the following periods:

The prices include a 200 DKK booking fee, rent, bed linen, towels and end cleaning. You can find pictures from the IC Dormitory below.
Please also notice that single and double rooms share a kitchen with PhD students and other AU Summer University guest lecturers. If you use the kitchen during your stay, you must clean up after yourself each time. Please also notice that IC Dormitory is not a hotel (no 24-hour service and no café or meal plans). The reception at the International Centre is open on workdays from 12 noon to 2 pm.

You can collect your key from 2 pm on the first date of your housing period.

We recommend that you make your travel plans so that you arrive and can collect your keys during our opening hours.
However, if you arrive outside of our opening hours, you can collect your key in a key box for self-service collection.
If you are bringing your family and/or wish to stay in a private Danish home, we can help you find housing that suits your preferences via the private market.
The approximate price is 8.000-15.000 DKK per month for a two-bedroom furnished apartment and 12.000-22.000 DKK per month for a furnished family house.
Our service is to establish contact between you and the property owner and to assist you if you have any housing questions before and during your stay. However, you must make the arrangements with the property owner on your own (including signing a contract and transferring the rent).
Many of the private property owners are staff members from Aarhus University staying outside Aarhus during the summer.
The Department of Mathematics manages 6 guest apartments and 12 guest rooms located on the top floor of buildings 1530 (A), 1535 (B) and 1540 (R). The rooms/apartments are primarily reserved for postdocs, associate professors and professors affiliated with Aarhus University.

Hotel Aarhus City Apartments offers rooms and small apartments located in the city centre of Aarhus. All units include a private bathroom and either a kitchenette or a fully equipped kitchen. The facilities are suitable for both short- and long-term stays, and the hotel is within walking distance of public transport, restaurants, and city amenities.

Athome apartments can be used by businesspeople, healthcare professionals, researchers, and private individuals. Various companies also have their own fixed apartment which only they use and is put at the disposal of employees or guests. athome apartments are designed and build for anyone who needs a temporary residence.
All the apartments have their own kitchen and bathroom and are fully furnished with a Danish and domestic atmosphere. athome apartments is located close to Aarhus University Hospital, 4 km from the city centre/20 minutes by bus.
Hotel in Aarhus North, which offers apartments with a bathroom and a kitchen. There is also a restaurant at the hotel where you can enjoy your breakfast or dinner, and a fitness center. The apartments are designed with Scandinavian furniture and interior. The sizes of the rooms vary from 30 square meter to 47 square meter. You can get an overview of the pricelist here.

Via Airbnb you can find plenty of people who typically rent out their spare room or entire apartment for short durations of time. It's can be a cheap and more personal alternative to hotels & traditional B&B's.

In April, you are informed about whether your course is confirmed or cancelled. If your course is confirmed, you will receive an email from AU Housing asking to confirm your housing preferences and plans for your stay to begin the application and/or reservation process.
You will receive more detailed housing information including about arrival and moving in once your course and housing have been confirmed.
