Course information - Faculty of Technical Sciences

At the Faculty of Technical Sciences all master level courses are taught in English. Additionally, we offer three international semester packages for bachelor engineering students and a wide range of bachelor level courses within Agro- and Food Sciences.

Do's and Don'ts in course selection

Please be aware that Engineering courses at master/graduate level are only available for master/graduate level students. 

  • You must take minimum 20 ECTS of your courses at the department (subject area) that you apply to. 
  • If you meet the academic requirements, you can also choose up to 10 ECTS courses from another department at Faculty of Technical Sciences or Faculty of Natural Sciences.
  • In order to register for a course, you must meet the specific academic requirements. You can see all our courses and their academic requirements in our Course Catalogue.
  • You are expected to be flexible regarding your course selection as your first choices may not be possible.
  • You cannot sign up for a Master’s thesis module.

Animal, Plant and Food Sciences (BSc level)

We offer a range of English taught bachelor level courses which are available to 2nd and 3rd year bachelor students with a relevant academic background.

All these courses are offered in the autumn semester. We do not offer bachelor level courses in English in the spring semester.

Courses in Danish
Students from the Nordic countries are allowed to choose bachelor level courses taught in Danish. 
 

Project Modules
Exchange students have access to Open Project modules of 5, 10 or 15 ECTS.
If you select a project module, it is your responsibility to find a supervisor and subject for the project prior to your arrival in Aarhus.

Agrobiology (MSc level)

All our master level courses are available for 4th and 5th year exchange students with a relevant academic background in Natural Sciences including Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cytology, Zoology, Botany, Mathematics, Statistics and Probability Calculus.

1st year master courses are available for 3rd year bachelor students, if they have a strong academic background in Natural Sciences including Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cytology, Zoology, Botany, Mathematics, Statistics and Probability.

Project Modules
Exchange students have access to Open Project modules of 5, 10 or 15 ECTS.
If you select a project module, it is your responsibility as a student to find a supervisor and subject for the project prior to your arrival in Aarhus.

Molecular Nutrition and Food Technology (Msc level)

All master level courses  are available for 4th and 5th year exchange students with relevant academic background within the subject areas of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Food Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry.

1st year master courses are available for 3rd year bachelor students, if they have a strong academic background within the subject areas of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Food Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry.

Engineering programmes (BSc level)

Bachelor/undergraduate engineering students can choose between one of our three international semester packages:

  • Urban Water (Civil and Structural Engineering BSc) - available in the fall and spring semester
  • Software Engineering (Electrical and Computer Engineering BSc) - available in the autumn semester
  • Mechanical Enginering (Mechanical Engineering BSc) - avaliable in the autumn semester

All courses are taught in English, and the classes consist of both international and Danish students. Please follow the links to view the specific course programme for each package. You can also find the specific requirements for admission here.

These semester packages are recommended to bachelor engineering students at their third year of studies.

Biological and Chemical Engineering (MSc level)

All our master level courses are taught in English, and they are available to exchange students with a Bachelor's degree within the field of Biological and Chemical Engineering or related subject areas with a minimum of 180 ECTS.

We recommend that you choose a combination of two specialized study packages or a combination of one specialized study package and one compulsory study package.

  • Master level students from the Nordic countries are allowed to choose bachelor- and master level courses taught in Danish.  
  • Master level courses are available to exchange students with a Bachelor's degree within the field of Civil and Architectural Engineering or related subject areas with a minimum of 180 ECTS.

Mechanical and Production Engineering (MSc level)

  • Exchange students must have minimum 20 ECTS of relevant Mathematical courses
  • Exchange students must admit course descriptions of all Mathematical courses and related courses for example Numerical Methods, Computer Science etc.
  • Master level students from the Nordic countries are allowed to choose bachelor- and master level courses taught in Danish
  • Master level courses are available to exchange students with a Bachelor's degree within the field of Mechanical and Production Engineering or related subject areas with a minimum of 180 ECTS
  • Modules that are not available for exchange students are:

When can you see the courses for the next semester? 


Our course offer is settled around April 1 for the following autumn semester and around October 1 for the following spring semester. Until then you can look at the courses we offered in the previous year.
