The Old Town: Denmark's Market Town Museum

The Old Town is an open-air museum where it’s truly like walking into a time capsule. The Old town is a living picture of life in Denmark from 300 years ago and up to 1974. The town not only allows you to experience 75 historical houses from 24 different cities in Denmark from the outside, but you can also explore them from the inside. You will get a feeling of what it was like to live back then and to see how Danes made their way of living, for example by talking to the live actors dressed in clothes from that time. A newer part of the city opened recently - the area in the era of the 1970’s. From the outside, you can see how the shape and colors of the buildings have changed and inside you can have a look at things connected to some great authentic Danish musicians and politicians from a revolutionary time. Here, you’ll get an idea of how these influential people have contributed to shaping Danish culture.
