Game.Play.Design Jamming with Culture

In this summer university course, students will develop theoretical, analytical and methodological knowledge of, as well as practice-oriented, hands-on skills to produce digital products (in the form of a cultural game) as value-based objects, cultural expressions, aesthetic interaction forms and transformative experiences. No specialized or technological skills are required, only dedication and an interest in exploring the potential of digital gameplay.

The course gives students the opportunity to combine theory and practice in a Design-Based Research (DBR) process that connects scholarly research and designerly innovation wherein students develop, produce and present own products in the form of games through/for culture.

Students get to use their disciplinary knowledge, skills and competencies in interdisciplinary teams. In this way, the distinctive theoretical, analytical, methodological and product-oriented skills and competencies of the individual student are put into play and taken advantage of within the interdisciplinary team.
