Professor Anders Møller receives the Elite Research Prize 2020
Professor of Computer Science Anders Møller from Aarhus University is among the recipients of the five 2020 Elite Research Prizes which were conferred at a ceremony held at Copenhagen Opera House on Thursday, 27 February 2020. Three research talents from Aarhus University also received Elite Research Travel Grants.

Imagine a tool that can look over computer programmers’ shoulders as they work and catch their mistakes. That's what Anders Møller, professor of computer science at Aarhus University, hopes his research will contribute to developing.
Professor Møller has just been awarded the 2020 Elite Research Prize for this work. He is described as one of the best in the world within his field – computer science with a focus on programming language and program analysis – and his work can help prevent errors in computer programs on our web browsers and mobile phones. Anders Møller and his research team are collaborating with international tech giants such as Google and Oracle.

The Elite Research Prizes are awarded by the Danish Minister for Higher Education and Science Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen and aim to create awareness of elite research in Denmark and highlight the important work being done by Danish researchers in scientific fields. The Elite Research Prize includes a cash prize of DKK 1.2 million. DKK 200,000 is a personal award of merit, while DKK 1,000,000 is intended for research activities.

Elite Research Travel Grants for three talented PhD students
At the ceremony at the Opera House, twenty Elite Research Travel Grants were also awarded to promising research talents. An Elite Research Travel Grant includes a cash prize of DKK 200,000 which must be used for an extended period of research abroad in a strong international research environment.
Three of this year’s recipients are from Aarhus University:
PhD student Signe Mosegaard, Department of Clinical Medicine
Research project: Genetic and functional studies of congenital, metabolic diseases and their response to inflammation
PhD student Nis Langer Primdahl, the Danish School of Education
(DPU), Research project: The use of mindfulness, yoga and meditation in primary and lower secondary education
PhD student Johan Gøtzsche-Astrup, Department of Political Science
Research project: Constructing the dividing line between political protests and violent riots
