AU, Studenterhus Aarhus and A2B host a full-week programme to give you a head start on your life in Denmark. You will learn some basic Danish, get a crash-course introduction to the Danes, and explore Aarhus and all it has to offer with other students.
The Danish course will give you an understanding of Danish society and provide you with the necessary skills for meeting the Danes. You will learn some Danish vocabulary and become familiar with Danish greetings and expressions.
Every day, following the Danish course in the morning, we offer a full social programme where you will be shown both the well-known and hidden gems of Aarhus, while getting to know each other. We will share our favourite spots and a few survival tips to help you get the most out of your stay in Denmark.
"I joined Kickstart because my friend recommended it to me and I do not regret my decision at all. Through it I got to meet so many interesting people and my closest friends here in Aarhus, which I wouldn't have met otherwise. The way the event is set-up makes socializing with people easier and really helps you get to know the city and the culture in a short amount of time. Not to mention that it was very fun. You also get Danish lessons every day, from which you can decide whether you'd like to continue learning the language afterwards. I would highly recommend the event to anyone!" - Jina Doliska, Slovenia, European Studies
"If you’re planning to move to Denmark on your own and wondering how you’ll make friends and build a network, the Kickstarter program is the perfect place to start. Beyond getting a first-hand introduction to Danish culture and society, you’re placed in a group of curious, like-minded students who share the same goals and mindset. I didn’t just make friends during this period. Many of them have become a core part of my life here in Denmark. It’s one of those experiences that stays with you long after the program ends." - Manuel Buenaventura, Argentina, Economics
"Enrolling in the Kickstarters introduction week was a great idea to meet new friends. Seeing them every day during a week and later made us know each other quickly and we have a great group! They are my main group nowadays, even though I have met more nice people in the university. During the introduction week we also got to know about Danish culture, food, society…even music! And of course, we got to explore Aarhus, a truly beautiful city that I would recommend to anyone. The weather is not always friendly, but that’s nothing a little Hygge with your friends can’t solve" - Francisco Nunes Di Pierri, Spain, Economics
