Fixed term part-time position 1 Feb 2025 - 14 May 2025 5.5 hours per week ID: 16509
The tasks of the assistants are to provide in-class/remote assistance (in class-time):
- setup:
- assist with local software installations or online instantiations of Voyant, Transkribus, UCloud, R, OpenRefine, Trove, Mediestream, registration to Github.
- access to course sources and computational environments
- operation:
- help students operate the tools introduced in the course and
- guide students in the pursuit of course tasks. Help interpret tool outputs during the conceptual work towards assessments; demonstrate best practice and computational thinking; don’t give out fish, teach how to fish.
- Act as student liaisons, translating their needs into technical questions for the instructors.
Selected candidates should be digitally savvy and enthusiastic as well as social, reliable and well-organised. The work requires independence and demands flexibility, and accuracy. Furthermore, the candidate should have good interpersonal skills.
The ideal candidate's application should demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Good English and Danish, both oral and written
- Familiarity with the domain, course materials as well as the digital tools introduced: previous attendance of Digital Archives and Methods or Theory Oriented Methods
- Experience with troubleshooting code and a knack for digital problem-solving as well as digital history
- Proactive, motivated and enthusiastic attitude
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and fellow assistants, as well as liaise with instructors
