Research assistant in neuroscience
The Department of Molecular biology and genetics at faculty of Natural Science at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a research assistant in neuroscience from 1 March 2021 to 31 May 2021. The position is a fixed-term full-time position.

The Danish Research Institute of Translational Neuroscience (DANDRITE) is the Danish node of the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine and is hosted by Aarhus University and funded by the Lundbeck Foundation. DANDRITE is devoted to interdisciplinary approaches in basic and translational neuroscience and is placed at two departments: Department of Biomedicine (Faculty of Health) and Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (Faculty of Natural Sciences). The organization and environment stimulate for genuine convergent research of natural sciences, engineering, and medicine - including also clinical research projects together with researchers from Aarhus University Hospital. The association to the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) facilitates collaborative research, access to scientific infrastructure, and fosters outstanding international research talent. Your job responsibilities
As a research assistant, your primary tasks are to perform experiments and analyze data (see bellow). You contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you have a close interaction with competent colleagues.
Your main tasks will consist of:
  • Performing immunohistochemistry
  • Making organotypic slices
  • Perform in vitro slice electrophysiology
  • Data analysis obtained from mass spectrometry.
You will report to the primary investigator Sadegh Nabavi.

Your competences
You have a background within neuroscience. Experience with immunohistochemistry and slice electrophysiology are essential. Experience with mass spectrometry data analysis is an advantage.
As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are friendly and helpful and able to contribute to a good work environment.
We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.

Application procedure
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
