Apply
The Department of Management at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for a 2.5-year postdoctoral position offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join a new research project on how media and marketing influence food consumption.

The starting date is January 1, 2025 or subject to mutual agreement.

The research project

The INFOODMATION project aims to increase the knowledge of how media and marketing as sources of food information influence food consumption and use it to develop best practices for food system actors, policies, and regulations to support healthier and more sustainable dietary patterns. The project will identify approaches, tools, channels, techniques, and messages used by the private sector, governments, and civil society to communicate about food (also focusing on vulnerable groups, such as children, adolescents and those of a low socio-economic status). These effects will be assessed, alongside the effectiveness of parental control, the impact of negative vs. positive messages and the effects and spread of misinformation (and how to counter it). EU legislation related to food information will be evaluated in light of these findings, as will policy measures at the national, regional, and local levels in EU member states. Thus, the project applies an interdisciplinary, multi-method approach by integrating and connecting expertise, methods and knowledge from different areas such as marketing, media communication, psychology, sociology and information systems.

The project contributes to the general marketing field as well as to the study of how to communicate healthy and sustainable food consumption. The project is expected to generate high-quality research and is externally funded by EU Horizon.

Job description

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the overall objectives of the project by being involved in project management, data collection, and data analysis. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the other phases of the research process, including writing academic papers and reports, dissemination of results and participation in meetings and the ongoing tasks in the project in collaboration with other researchers in the project team.

The position is research-oriented but may involve teaching assignments.
