We are looking for a successful candidate with a strong research profile within Consumer science and Public Engagement who would like to work with a highly engaged and motivated staff in a dynamic working environment. The position is available from 1st April 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The position is funded through European projects focused on Public Engagement and Living Labs in the area of Green transition and Sustainable Food System transformation approached by participatory science, multi-stakeholder engagement, science communication and behavioural food related interventions. The projects’ aims are to help design common multi-stakeholder solutions and develop impactful behavioural interventions in the area of food science targeted to the public that will enable a green food ecosystem transformation.
We seek a candidate with knowledge of the application of quantitative and qualitative consumer research methodologies and experience in designing short and long-term interventions including behavioural impact measurements. Solid experience in design of experiments, statistical analysis, impact metrics and modelling are preferred. Experience in building research networks is considered important due to the projects’ regional focus. Considering the wider field of research, a background in food science, including food quality, sensory science and nutrition as well as good teamwork and networking skills would be central. Ability to write and communicate in Danish is considered an advantage.
The Post-doctoral position is part of the Science Team ‘Food Quality Perception and Society’ at the Department of Food Science. The candidate is expected to take part in teaching at BSc and MSc level, as well as participating in supervision of students. It is expected that the Post doc candidate participate in attracting funding for further research in the area.
- Applicants must have a PhD degree or must document equivalent qualifications in a relevant field related to food, consumer science, psychology, or other citizen related sciences from a University or an academic institution.
- Experience with self-directed coordination of research
- Field research experience, including planning, developing and execution of human studies and interventions as documented by a Dissertation, participation in research projects, or scientific publications
- Experience in statistical analysis of data including univariate, multivariate statistics
- Science communication skills proven publication record in international peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in supervising students and teaching at a high academic level
- As the project will involve Danish stakeholder engagement and communication actions ability to write and communicate in Danish will be considered an advantage.
The Department of Food ScienceThe Department of Food Science is part of the Faculty of Technology, Aarhus University and includes research across the food value chain within the areas of Plant Production Systems, Biofunctional Food, Systems Biology, Food Chemistry and Technology, Food Quality, and Sensory and Consumer Science. The Department currently employs approx. 60 full time scientific staff and 50 PhD students and Postdocs, with approx. 30 visiting staff and students contributing to an international research environment where English is the preferred language in the laboratory, at meetings and at seminars.
