We are looking for an Academic Employee for a part time position. Work place will preferably be at Aarhus University Forskerparken, Gustav Wieds Vej 10 B, 8000 Aarhus C.

It is a permanent position with start 1 November 2024.
 

Responsibility:

You’ll be joining a group that consists of food and gut microbiologists, microbial ecologists, and food engineers that work on food and gut microbial systems. You will support the group of Functional Microbe Technology in microbial community data management and analysis. We’re looking for someone who is motivated and flexible to handle varying tasks.

Tasks will include:
  • Data processing and analysis. The candidate supports ongoing research projects of PhD students and postdocs with the processing, analysis, integration and visualization of omics data (e.g., genomics, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics) generated from different platforms (e.g. Illumina, Nanopore)
  • Data and IT infrastructure management. The candidate supports the management, storage and submission to relevant repositories of the various data types locally and publically available databases
  • Keeping track of tools and methods for biological data analysis. Initiatives to integrate novel tools and methods for the analysis of omics dataare welcome
     

Required qualifications:

  • A PhD in data science, computational biology, mathematics, bioinformatics, or a related field within the STEM disciplines
  • An understanding of bioinformatics and experience with large datasets commonly used in an academic setting
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills
  • Experience with HPC is considered beneficial
  • Deep knowledge of multivariate statistics, statistical modelling and numerical methods
  • Basic knowledge of machine learning techniques is considered beneficial
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and shell scripting and experience with data science, graphical and statistical libraries
