Aarhus BSS in the University City

In the autumn of 2018, Aarhus BSS conducted a comprehensive user-involvement process in which students and teaching staff contributed to qualifying the faculty's future needs. Based on this, a number of analyses mapped how much area the faculty would need.

Four turnkey contractor consortia have been selected to come up with proposals for BSS’ future facilities in the University City. The winning project proposal was by A.Enggaard A/S, who together with AART Architects, LYTT Landscape and NIRAS developed a proposal that stays true to the existing architecture and fulfils the requirements of Aarhus BSS for the facilities in the new buildings.

As part of the project, a lecture theatre with 800 seats will be built. In addition to its main function as a classroom, the lecture theatre will also be used for external events such as conferences and symposiums. The construction of the lecture theatre thereby supports Aarhus University’s business initiative and strategy for increased collaboration with society.

Location
Aarhus BSS’ programmes for management and economics and business economics will move into new and existing buildings in building 1790, 1810 and 1830 in the University City. Students on the degree programmes in question will spend their daily life in the active study environment that exists around the University Park. The buildings will have a central location in the University City with direct access to the middle and existing southern passage connecting the University Park and the University City.

Timetable
AU will take over the buildings and start moving in during the summer of 2025.
