The AU Fitness Centre to vacate premises at Katrinebjerg
At the start of next year, Katrinebjerg will be converted to accommodate the engineering departments. The AU Fitness Centre will therefore have to find new premises.
As part of the development of Aarhus campus, the university will be moving all activities within IT, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering to Katrinebjerg.
The AU premises at Katrinebjergvej 89B are currently being used by the AU Fitness Centre. The layout of the premises, especially with their high ceilings and space, make them ideal for the technology and machinery that engineers need. Unfortunately, this means that AU can no longer lend the premises to the AU Fitness Centre.
Working to find other solutions
Work to convert Katrinebjerg for engineering activities will begin in January 2022. At present, AU does not have any suitable vacant premises available for the AU Fitness Centre, with space for fitness classes and changing facilities, etc.
University Director Arnold Boon is in a dialogue with the AU Fitness Centre committee regarding finding alternative solutions.
“University staff should have easy access to exercise close to campus, and I hope that, together with AU Fitness Centre, we’ll be able to find a solution so employees can continue to exercise with their colleagues,” says Arnold Boon.
Members will be notified as soon as we know how and where the AU Fitness Centre will continue in the future. The fitness centre at Katrinebjergvej will continue its activities until the end of the year.
