The ranking is primarily based on reputation among researchers from all over the world as well as the employers of the universities’ graduates, in addition to researcher citation rates. The relative weight of these indicators varies from subject to subject. Reputation is weighted most heavily in the humanities and social sciences, while citation rates are the most important indicator in the natural and health sciences.
In addition to the three top 50 subjects, AU ranks in the top 100 in the following subjects: anthropology, history, agriculture and forestry, medicine, environmental science, nursing, policy and international studies, psychology, statistics and operational analysis, and economics and econometrics.
The ranking lists for the individual subjects are based on the data from the general ranking list published by QS in September 2015, on which AU ranks 107th.
