Do you want to become a better leader? Or are you just curious to learn how leadership affects us all? Then save the date for Aarhus University’s MatchPoints Seminar on 23-25 May 2019: Leadership and Performance in the 21st Century: Value Creation in Public, Private and Voluntary Organisations. The conference will focus on what constitutes good leadership in public, private and voluntary organisation, and how leaders can develop their leadership.
“Leadership is about setting a course and creating results with and through others. But in order to create results through others, you need to be seen as an active leader. Research shows that after just one year without leadership development, employees perceive their leader as less active. That is why it is important for leaders to constantly train their leadership,” says professor Lotte Bøgh Andersen, director of the Crown Prince Frederik Center for Public Leadership, which is hosting the conference.
The conference is also relevant for people who do not have a formal leader role, but who have leadership roles and tasks in a voluntary organisation or as a private or public sector employee.
A conference based on practical experience
This year’s MatchPoints Seminar puts dialogue with practitioners first, and the conference will combine the communication of insights from the latest research on leadership with the experiences of real-life leaders. The keynote speakers and participants in the panel discussions will be researchers, managers, politicians and opinion makers. Additionally, there will be a number of different presentations, debates and workshops held at the same time, which means that participants will be able to select the specific parts of the programme they find most interesting.
Leadership training in small groups
On Saturday 25 May, participants will have the opportunity to participate in leadership training in small groups: highly qualified instructors will develop your personal leadership under headlines including “Leading public sector employees”, “Leadership in SMEs” and “Executive leadership in the private and public sectors”.
“Leadership development is about placing genuine knowledge into play in relation to your own daily life. That is why Saturday’s programme will be dedicated to combining knowledge, reflection and action in small groups, where the individual participant will develop their leadership competences,” says Professor Lotte Bøgh Andersen.
