After a demanding selection process, Aarhus University has chosen Anne Mette Mørcke for the position of director of the university’s new central teaching development centre. Anne Mette Mørcke comes from a position as head of section at the Copenhagen Academy for Medical Education and Simulation (CAMES) at Rigshospitalet. At CAMES Anne Mette Mørcke was responsible for consolidating the Capital Region of Denmark’s research, development and teaching activities in the field of medical and surgical simulation.

She also has extensive experience from Aarhus University. She trained as a medical doctor and took her PhD here, and she has served as director of studies for the medical programme at AU. She also gained extensive management experience in the military, where she served as a major in the Reserve. In addition to her work, Anne Mette Mørcke has served on a number of boards and councils, including as a member of an advisory board at AU's Department of Dentistry.

Pro-Rector Berit Eika is very pleased with the choice of Anne Mette Mørcke as head of the university's teaching development centre, and is looking forward to working with her.

"Anne Mette Mørcke has many years of experience with university pedagogics and management. She comes from a similar position in the Capital Region of Denmark and knows Aarhus University inside out. She is the right person to take on the task of merging five units in the new central teaching development centre, and by doing so helping to ensure that teaching staff at Aarhus University receives even better support to develop their teaching – not least for the benefit of our students,"she says.

As head of the university's new teaching development centre, Anne Mette Mørcke, together with the centre's employees and in close collaboration with management, degree programmes and students, will help to ensure that

teaching at Aarhus University is continuously developed on the basis of new insights and technological opportunities.

The appointment committee was unanimous in its decision to select Anne Mette Mørcke as head of the new teaching development centre. She is looking forward to rolling up her sleeves and getting to work, and has strong visions for the centre.

"The new university teaching development centre is a visionary collection of all of the highly qualified specialists that work with teaching development at Aarhus University. I'm looking forward to helping to develop the centre, which will support teaching staff when they want to try out new things – and this on a strong research-based foundation," she says.

The new university teaching development centre is the result of amerger of the university’s four former faculty teaching development centres, CUDiM, CUL, CESU and STLL, in addition to the EDU-IT unit. The centre will report directly to the Rector's Office.
