Welcome to Ryota Hasegawa who is a newly appointed postdoc on Tomonori Takeuchi’s team

Ryota Hasegawa is a newly appointed postdoc on Tomonori Takeuchi’s team. He completed his PhD in Basic Biology at The Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI), Okazaki, Japan, under the supervision of Prof. Masanori Matsuzaki. You can read more here.

His PhD research focused on the structural plasticity of presynaptic terminals during motor learning by using an in vivo two-photon imaging technique. His principal research interest is the neural basis of learning and memory, and the mechanisms by which synaptic connections are altered during these processes. In this connection, he believes that investigating neuromodulator influences on neural circuits and on synaptic plasticity is particularly important, and that by doing so, it may be possible for him and the team to shed new light on how learning and memory work.
