University Director Jane Kraglund to be new director of the Region of Southern Denmark

A very attractive and exciting position that I couldn’t say no to. This is how University Director Jane Kraglund describes her decision to accept the position of director of the Region of Southern Denmark.

“This is not a rejection of the university directorship at Aarhus University, but rather an active acceptance of a position I very much want to test my abilities on,” explains Kraglund, who continues:

“Aarhus University is a truly amazing place with lots of dedication, high academic and professional standards at not least a strong desire to tackle future challenges. It has been very exciting to be part of the university and part of a strong executive team, and to contribute to addressing the challenges this sector faces.”

Jane Kraglund took up the position of university director at Aarhus University on 1 January 2015. She came to AU from a position as managing director of Odense University Hospital (OUH). Kraglund’s previous career included positions as regional health director in the Region of Southern Denmark and county health director for the former South Jutland County. Brian Bech Nielsen, rector of Aarhus University, regrets that Kraglund is stepping down as university director. However, he understands her decision:

“It’s very regrettable that we have to say goodbye to a competent, dedicated director, whose efforts I value very highly. On the other hand, I would like to congratulate Jane and the Region of Southern Denmark on the new position, and I look forward to continuing to work with Jane in her new capacity as regional director,” states Rector Nielsen.

Kraglund will take up the position as director of the Region of Southern Denmark on 1 October. An acting university director will be appointed by the rector in cooperation with the board before that date.
