The site has been cleared for the new Biomedicine building
In December the old walls of the Officers’ Building fell to make room for the Department of Biomedicine’s new building. The demolition was captured by a photographer.
The old Officers’ Building on the corner of Vennelyst Boulevard and Høegh-Guldbergs Gade was empty all through the autumn, while it was readied for demolition, after SKT, HR and Research and Talent at Health moved out at the end of the summer. But things really speeded up in mid-December. An excavator turned up and tore down the walls brick by brick. In the course of three days, the building was raised to the ground.
Many passers-by followed the demolition - including people from AU and Cubo Architects, who designed the new building.
The commencement of construction of the new building is planned for August 2014.
