The Brain Collection may be destroyed
Before 1 January 2018, a new host must be found for the 9437 brains that compose the Brain Collection to prevent it from being destroyed.
At their meeting 21 June 2017, the Regional Council of Central Denmark Region approved the recommendation to destroy the Brain Collection if no new host is found before 1 Januar 2018.
Currently, TNU is in charge of the maintenance and research activities of the Brain Collection which is hosted in the facilities at Aarhus University Hospital Risskov. However, all buildings in Risskov, including the facilities containing the Brain Collection, must be vacated by the end of 2018 to allow the construction of the new urban district Bindesbøll Byen to commence.
