The accreditation panel paid a visit – we’ll know the answer next summer

At the beginning of November, the accreditation panel made its second and final visit to AU. At Health, focus was on the quality assurance system at odontology and the Master's degree programme in nursing. The final decision will be announced in June 2017.

Once again, both Health's and the rest of the university's quality assurance system was turned inside out when the accreditation panel visited the university at the beginning of November. This time the panel took an in-depth look at 15 selected study programmes. At Health they had selected odontology and the Master's degree programme in nursing.

"The visit went well, and the panel was very friendly. However, even though we feel good about how it went, we cannot say anything about what the result might be. We know that other educational institutions who have previously been conditionally accredited, have also had a positive experience of these panel visits, so we will just have to wait in suspense," says Charlotte Ringsted, Vice-dean for Education at Health.

A big thank you to everyone

Prior to the visit, a great deal of work had to be done to document the system that the faculty uses to ensure the quality of its study programmes. On top of this, both managers, employees and the students made a major contribution to the visit itself.

"We have had two study programmes in the hot seat, both of which have newly appointed department heads, and they have done an excellent job. I would like to say a big thank you to all the employees who have been involved, and also to the many students who have participated in interviews. I know that some of the students have come all the way from Copenhagen to participate. I really appreciate everyone's efforts," says Charlotte Ringsted.

AU will receive the Accreditation Council's report for consultation next March. The report is an overall evaluation of the university's quality assurance system, and the university can either receive positive accreditation, conditional accreditation or a rejection. The final decision will be announced in June 2017.
