Student life at Health gets a financial boost
The pandemic has effectively put a stop to many aspects of student life as we know it, and well-being is an area in which the students are hit particularly hard. Therefore, the faculty has made a pool of DKK 420,000 available to students, with the aim of helping to kick-start activities in the student associations and the social study environment.
Two semesters have come and gone during either a full or partial lockdown, and a study of the university's study environment carried out in the autumn of 2020 shows that well-being among the students has suffered a serious blow. No less than 78 per cent of the students surveyed think that "the coronavirus situation impacts students’ enjoyment of their studies".
AU's Committee on Education has therefore decided to allocate a well-being pool to each faculty, which will strengthen the students' social study environment and the associations at the faculties. The students who started at the university in the autumn semester 2020 and the spring semester 2021 will have particular focus.
Health has thus received DKK 120,000, which is now merged with the existing faculty pool of DKK 300,000 that was already intended for various student activities. This means that faculty's students will be able to apply for a total of DKK 420,000 over two rounds of applications, with deadlines of 1 May and 15 September 2021, respectively.
All students enrolled on one of Health's degree programmes are able to apply for help from the pool. Both student groups, student associations and individuals can apply for funding. Funding is provided to e.g. hold social events, association evenings, lectures, debate forums, network meetings and for running student associations, etc.
