Researcher with an eye for vitamin D gets professorship at Aarhus University

Professor of medical endocrinology, Lars Rejnmark, Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University, conducts research into rare disorders and the calcium metabolism.

Disruptions in the calcium metabolism may lead to serious conditions including osteoporosis, muscle weakness and cardiovascular diseases. This is medical specialist and now professor of endocrinology Lars Rejnmark’s field of research. He has also demonstrated that vitamin D can reduce the risk of bone fractures and increase lifespan. This is important knowledge for many Danes, who despite high living standards, get too little vitamin D. With his professorship, Lars Rejnmark will also work to improve our understanding – and treatment – of patients with rare diseases that also fall under his field of research.

Lars Rejnmark holds his inaugural lecture on 5 January 2017.
