Research stay for medical student

The Lundbeck Foundation has awarded medical student Line Dam Heftdal from Aarhus University a fully financed research stay at either Stanford University or the University of Southern California.

Only five students have made the cut for this year's Lundbeck Foundation Clinical Research Fellowships. One of them is Line Dam Heftdal. She is studying medicine at Aarhus University and is also affiliated with the Deleuran Lab at the Department of Biomedicine.

Line Dam Heftdal’s initial experience of research came during clinical training at the Department of Rheumatology, where she came into contact with Professor Bent Deleuran and his research laboratory. Here Line Dam Heftdal worked with two colleagues on studying the factors that influence the development of spinal arthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. This resulted in a number of new discoveries, the first of which has been published in a recognised journal.

Line Dam Heftdal will begin her ten-month research stay in the USA in late summer 2017. Once the stay is completed, she will return to AU and complete her medical degree. She will continue to be affiliated with the Deleuran Lab.
