Prof. Thomas Willnow, MDC Berlin, will establish a new research group at Dept. of Biomedicine
Prof. Thomas Willnow has been awarded a DKK 50 mio. Novo Nordisk Foundation Laurate grant and will start at Department of Biomedicine on 1 December 2019.
Professor Thomas Willnow has long been studying how metabolic disorders are linked to the development of neurodegenerative diseases at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC). On 1 December, he will begin to establish a new research group – in addition to his research work at the MDC. In this endeavor, he will collaborate closely with Professor Anders Nykjaer at Dept. of Biomedicine, Aarhus University. Profs. Willnow and Nykjaer have been collaborating for years, including on several research projects and two biotech spin-offs.
A Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) Laureate Research Grant will provide €7 million over seven years for his project.
