One step closer to finding a new dean
The hunt for Health's new dean has entered a new phase after the expiry of the deadline for applications on Sunday 11 December.
It takes time to appoint a dean. It will take around six months from Allan Flyvbjerg’s announcement at the end of August that he was stepping down, until a new dean of the Faculty of Health moves into the dean’s office. The process reached an important milestone Sunday week, when the deadline for applications passed. The next step is the appointment committee deciding who to invite to the job interviews.
A vacant position as dean is not expected to attract many applicants. For the same reason, the number of applications that the job advertisement has given rise to is not being made public. On the other hand, there is no secrecy about who will appoint the new dean:
- Rector Brian Bech Nielsen
- Pro-rector Berit Eika
- University Director Arnold Boon
- Dean of BSS Thomas Pallesen
- Administrative Centre Manager at Health Steen Harrit Jakobsen
- Vice-dean, Acting Dean at Health, Ole Steen Nielsen
- Department Head at Health Kristjar Skajaa
- Deputy Director of HR Anne Lindholm Behnk (secretary for the appointment committee)
Applicants who are invited to an interview can use the Christmas holidays to prepare themselves. The first round of interviews takes place on 4 January and will be followed by a management assessment of the candidates. Following this, the second round of interviews begins, and if they end with a successful appointment, contract negotiations can begin in mid-January. The new dean is expected to take up the position on 1 March.
