Novo award draws international researcher and DKK 20 million to Biomedicine
Tomonori Takeuchi receives the Novo Nordisk Foundation's Young Investigator Award. The award comes with DKK 20 million that will enable the Japanese researcher to become part of the Department of Biomedicine and establish both a research laboratory and a research group at DANDRITE.
Associate Professor and AIAS-fellow Tomonori Takeuchi and his team will spend the next seven years researching how the neural structures in the brain organise knowledge. The objective of the research programme is to gain an understanding of the molecular mechanisms of these processes. This research has the potential to identify new targets for treatment of memory loss.
The goal of the Young Investigator Award is to attract some of the world's most talented and promising early career researchers to Denmark. Tomonori Takeuchi comes from the Centre for Discovery Brain Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, where he has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow since moving there from Japan.
