Newsletter 70 January 2017

Dear All Please find this year's first newsletter from the Department:

Strategy

As we wrote in the newsletter 63 from May last year we have in the management team prioritized the following goals:

1. Economic stability

2. The movement processes

3. Development of education

Here is a short update:

1) We are still working hard on short term and long term budgets.

2) The first move to the Skou building is still starting October this year, and the management team is working on planning and coordination of the many moving processes. We will return with more information, but at this stage we would like to invite to start to clean up / throw out. The less you want to move, the easier the move processes will proceed. Recent developments regarding the purchase of freezers is that it will probably be more economically to buy new.

3) Charlotte Ringsted is by arranging kick-of meeting for a drug development program.

Possible less space long term

The department has been asked to describe scenarios for the space requirements from 2020. We have from the department prepared a note, which concludes that the future space requirement is very uncertain, as it depends on many external factors (eg. New grants) and the type of research performed in the future.

What is interdisciplinary research?

One of the criteria for the award of a PhD scholarship from the faculty is that the project can be characterized as interdisciplinary. How this is to be understood, however, can be discussed. To assist in applications for PhD stipends a leaflet describing how various researchers understand the concept has been prepared. It can be viewed here:
