Information about the coronavirus for AU staff and students
Aarhus University has collected a number of general answers and references to staff and students who have questions about coronavirus. The site here will be updated, depending on the development.
New HR Partner
Dagmar Brøndt Kjær has got a new position and therefore resigns from AU on 31 March. A new position as HR partner at Biomedicine has been posted. We wish Dagmar the best of luck and thank her for her good cooperation during the past many years.
New Communication Partner
On 1 April, Henriette Stevnhøj will replace Nanna Jespersgaard as communication partner for Biomedicine. Henriette can be contacted on 20373086 or stevnhoej@au.dk. Thanks to Nanna for the great working relationship and welcome to Henriette.
News regarding PhD students
As of this year, changes have been made to the procedures relating to the PhD students. Among other things, this means that, in future, the Graduate school will only grant full scholarships – decisions regarding part-financing of PhD projects is made at the department. There will be two annual rounds of application (spring/autumn), in which an academic committee will assess the PhD applications. The department may choose to co-finance applications that do NOT receive a full scholarship. To apply outside the two rounds of application is only possible if you have 100% external funding. News from the Novo Nordisk Foundation
The Novo Nordisk Foundation has allocated DKK 410 mill. over the next three years to a new Data Science Initiative, consisting of four interconnected elements of which the three open calls were opened in January 2020:
- Collaborative Research Programme: Funding for large research collaborations that support ideas within data science as the primary field of research, but with opportunities for collaboration within the core areas of the foundation, including biomedicine.
- Research Infrastructure: Funding for national infrastructure in the field of data science (supercomputers, hardware, technical staff, databases).
- Investigator Grants: Grants for research managers at various career levels to specialists in the field of data science.
- In addition, the Foundation will explore the possibilities of establishing a national Data Science Academy to support PhDs and postdocs with a focus on education and networks.
