New visitor’s centre – a window to the University City of the future

A new visitor’s centre gives visitors a glimpse of what the University City campus might ultimately look like and how construction work is progressing. Using illustrations, images, 3D models and Augmented Reality, the visitors' centre is a little window to the future, and everyone is welcome to stop by.

“If you want to know more about the University City of the future, then stop by our new visitor’s centre.”

Jørgen Lang is director of FEAS, the property company responsible for developing the University City campus in collaboration with Aarhus University. And he stresses that all are welcome:

“Our goal was to create a space where employees, students, neighbours and the general public have a chance to follow the process and get a sense of how the University City might look when it’s finished. And to do so, we’ve used a variety of media.”

What can you see?

There’s a large polystyrene 3D model of the University City in the middle of the visitor’s centre, and there’s a slideshow with photos from the construction site in the corner. There are eight large visualisations of the University City on the walls that show what it might look like in 2025.

The visitor’s centre is also staffed by a host who can answer questions about the University City and the process of redeveloping the area.

You can also take a virtual tour of the University City anno 2025 at the visitor’s centre. Thanks to Augumented Reality, you can stand on the central square of the University City and experience the campus.

The visitor’s centre will update its exhibits as the construction work progresses.

How to get there

Walk about halfway down Peter Sabroes Gade. Here you’ll find a sign that reads ‘Besøgscenter Universitetsbyen’ (University City visitor’s centre) that will direct you to the visitor’s centre. The centre doesn’t really have an official address; it’s located where the old chapel used to be.

Opening hours

You can stop by the visitor’s centre at the following times:

June (from Week 26)
Tuesdays 10:00-12:00 and Thursdays 14:00-16:30.

From 6 June
All weekdays, 10:00 - 13:00.
