At the turn of the year she was appointed as the new Vice-dean for Education at Health, Aarhus University. And now Charlotte Ringsted has also been appointed professor in Health Sciences Education at CESU, also at the university.

Before she landed in Aarhus, she came from a position as centre director for one of the most acknowledged and largest centres for research into education, The Wilson Centre for Research in Health Professionals Education at Toronto University, and she has many years of experience in research and management of health sciences education.

My research deals with studies of training and testing of clinical skills in health science educations, including the effect of different forms of training and how to test whether the expected competence has been achieved," says Charlotte Ringsted.

She emphasises that the research ultimately has an effect on the quality of patient treatment and patient safety.

"The results are important for the people who work with educations and programmes in the health sciences, but they can also inspire other parts of the educational sector who work with the development of forms of training and methods of evaluation," she says.

Charlotte Ringsted originally graduated from Odense University as a medical doctor in 1978, but she changed track in 1993 and has since then built a career in medical pedagogics both as a researcher and manager.

Charlotte Ringsted will hold her inaugural lecture on Monday 29 June 2015 at 14:30, with the title: Research in health science degree programmes.

The inaugural lecture will take place at AIAS, Aarhus University, Høegh-Guldbergs Gade 6B, DK-8000 Aarhus C
