New professor studies long-term consequences of urological diseases
As of 1 July 2018, Consultant Mette Nørgaard is affiliated with Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital as professor of urological epidemiology. She conducts research into the long-term consequences of benign and malignant urological diseases.
In her professorship, Mette Nørgaard will utilise the extensive Danish clinical registries to, among other things, examine the long-term prognosis for urinary tract infections and conditions that lead to blood in the urine or acute urination problems. At the same time, the new professor will also examine whether the prognosis for these patients also depends on other chronic diseases.
Benign urological disorders are frequent and occur in all age groups. Nevertheless, there is a lack of studies describing the longer-term consequences for these patients. Mette Nørgaard hopes that her register-based research can provide increased knowledge and a better overview of urological practice and thereby improve the scientific evidence for the clinical guidelines for diagnosis and treatment.
