New professor researches the home care of the future

Annelise Norlyk from Aarhus University carries out research into how we should organise the municipal home care of the future, so that it takes into account the increasing number of complex care needs and supports elderly people’s own experience of well-being and dignity.

Much of the care and treatment that previously took place in the hospitals now takes place in the municipalities and in people’s own homes. This increases the complexity of care pathways and challenges the existing framework in the system.

One of the focal points of the studies carried out by new Professor of Nursing Annelise Norlyk, is how everyday life looks for people who receive municipal home care. She also conducts research into the roles and tasks taken on by relatives, how we organise and create coherence between different sectors, the characteristics of a home care culture and forms of collaboration – both internally and with citizens and relatives.

The overall objective is to identify essential organisational, vocational and educational development potential in the home care sector that can strengthen the care of the elderly and chronically ill in their own homes in the future.

Annelise Norlyk’s research is part of an international collaboration financed by EU funds.
