New professor carries out research into personalised medicine for pregnant women

Lars Henning Pedersen is Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital’s new professor. A focal point of his research is personalised medicine for pregnant women. As part of this research he develops new methods for assessing how the foetus is fairing in the mother’s stomach.

Lars Henning Pedersen, who is a consultant and new professor of obstetrics, focuses on creating a basis for increased individualised treatment of pregnant women. His research projects involve e.g. optimising the use of drugs during pregnancy, for example by taking the significance of genetic variations into account. He also examines the interaction between the foetus and the placenta and develops new methods for assessing how the foetus is fairing.

The research is carried out in an interdisciplinary collaboration with national and international research colleagues, and the new professorship will enable Lars Henning Pedersen to consolidate his research group and strengthen its research logistics at the department, among other things with a laboratory, clinical data and registry access.

A crucial part of the research is funded via a Borregaard Clinical Ascending Investigator grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
