New IJSPT-publication: Running Injury Development - Attitudes of Runners and Coaches

An article based on the masters´ thesis by Karen Krogh Johansen is now published in the August issue of International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy.

In her Masters´ thesis, Karen investigated the attitudes towards factors leading to running-injuries amongst competitive runners and their coaches. Karen reached out to 25 Danish athletics clubs, and ended up receiving survey-data from 68 athletes and 19 coaches. The results showed that the majority of both athletes and coaches reported “ignoring pain” to be a major risk factor of injury development, while most coaches also believed “reduced muscle strength” and “high running distance” to be associated with running injuries.
