New honorary professor in “Innovative and rational patient care pathways”

Torkell Ellingsen has just been affiliated with Aarhus University and The University Clinic for Innovative Patient Care Pathways at Silkeborg Regional Hospital as an honorary professor.

Torkell Ellingsen will now join the collaboration between Aarhus University and The University Clinic for Innovative Patient Care Pathways at Silkeborg Regional Hospital.

In recent years his research has focused on improving both the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic inflammation and complications arising from rheumatoid arthritis such as heart and lung diseases. With the title of honorary professor, Torkell Ellingsen will now join the collaboration between Aarhus University and The University Clinic for Innovative Patient Care Pathways at Silkeborg Regional Hospital.

The honorary professorship will help to strengthen current, and also future, projects between the universities and university hospitals in Aarhus and Odense, as well as the university clinic in Silkeborg.

"The research projects share a common desire to find new markers, techniques and strategies that can optimise the diagnostics and treatment of both rheumatic inflammation and complications in patients with arthritic diseases," says Torkell Ellingsen.

Close collaboration to be expanded

The University Clinic for Innovative Patient Care Pathways is part of the Diagnostic Centre at Silkeborg Regional Hospital. Here Head Consultant Ulrich Fredberg is pleased to see that the affiliation of Torkell Ellingsen has provided an opportunity to continue and expand the close, successful research collaboration that has been developed in recent years.

"Torkell Ellingsen has unique competences when it comes to making things happen in broad research projects across specialist medical areas. He is able to get these specialist areas to work together on the projects, and to recruit committed medical doctors to take part in the research work," says Ulrich Fredberg.

Allan Flyvbjerg, Dean of the Faculty of Health at Aarhus University, agrees.

"With his many years’ experience, Torkell Ellingsen is a real authority in this field. His appointment really strengths the research and the collaboration between Aarhus University and The University Clinic for Innovative Patient Care Pathways at Silkeborg Regional Hospital,” says Allan Flyvbjerg.
