New Doctor of Medical Science carries out research into placebo effects
Lene Vase is a new Doctor of Medical Science at Aarhus University, Health. Her research into placebo effects is targeted towards medical doctors, researchers and pharmaceutical companies who want to test and increase the effect of their treatment and of new forms of treatment.
Lene Vase is professor with special responsibilities (MSO) of neuroscientific psychology and now also Doctor of Medical Science. She conducts research into the correlation between psychological and neurobiological factors, among other things by looking into how placebo factors influence treatment in clinical practice and in randomised trials.
Her research contributes to an improved understanding of how focus on the relationship with the therapist and the patient's expectations can contribute towards increasing the overall effect of treatment in clinical practice.
Lene Vase is affiliated with the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences at Aarhus University. However, a large part of the research behind her higher doctoral dissertation was carried out at the Danish Pain Research Center at Aarhus University Hospital in collaboration with Harvard Medical School in the USA, among others. For this reason, her higher doctoral dissertation was submitted at Health.
