Kick-start an interdisciplinary research project with a new funding pool

A new funding pool at Health now means it is possible to apply for three months' salary for a potential PhD student for the development and planning of an interdisciplinary PhD project. Applications can be made jointly by two researchers, each from their own department at Health.

Interdisciplinary research projects will play a much greater role in the future. An ever-increasing share of external research funding goes to interdisciplinary projects that are capable of crossing disciplines in order to find the best possible solutions to specific challenges faced by society. For this reason, the faculty management team will now provide a stronger incentive to incorporate an interdisciplinary element in research and, at the same time, provide the basis for an increased number of interdisciplinary PhD projects at Health.

A new funding pool gives Health researchers at associate professor level and above an exceptional opportunity to apply for a grant of DKK 120,000 to pay an introductory scholarship with the aim of affiliating a potential PhD student with their research project. Applications for funding from the pool can be made in collaboration between two researchers from different departments at Health. This requires that the applicants have both the desire and competences to participate in a future PhD project as principal supervisor and co-supervisor, respectively.

Introductory scholarships are given to develop and plan an interdisciplinary PhD project together with the fundraising of the necessary financing. Recipients of the introductory scholarship will also have good opportunities to subsequently apply for a full PhD scholarship or grant from the graduate school as interdisciplinarity is one of the strategic criteria.

Applications should be submitted via this application form.

The deadline for applications is Friday 18 June 2018 at 12.00 noon.
