Increase in international students applying to Aarhus University

International applicants are becoming increasingly interested in Aarhus University. 3,676 applications from European citizens to the university's Master's degree programmes were received by the deadline on 15 March, an increase of almost 500 over last year.

The number of applications from non-Danish applicants has increased significantly since last year, not only in terms of the total number of applications, but also in the number of applicants. There were 2,307 international applicants to AU, an increase of 16 per cent over 2016.

Aarhus BSS saw the greatest increase in applications, with 2,326 applications – 281 more than last year. The most popular degree programmes among international applicants are the MSc in business administration, Innovation Management, Strategy, Organisation and Leadership and International Business

There was also a considerable increase in applications to the Faculty of Arts, with a total of 768 applications this year, 137 more than in 2016. Popular degree programmes include International Studies, Human Security and International Studies.

Students from Germany, Norway and Italy are the largest group of international applicants to Aarhus University, and accounting for 43 per cent of applicants.

Aarhus University is becoming increasingly popular outside Europe as well: applications increased by 20 per cent, with a total of 610 applications.

 

Aarhus University currently has about 3,000 international full-degree students.
