Increase awareness of your research – join the Festival of Research

Aarhus University will once again be opening its doors to a festival of research – and this year the theme is ‘Fascinating research’. The event takes place in and around Stakladen from 14:00 to 18:00 on Wednesday 24 April. Would you like to join? Then don’t delay and register now so you can take advantage of the opportunity to present your research to a broader audience.

Both seasoned researchers and junior research talents can get involved when AU invites everyone to the Festival of Research, and all proposals for activities are welcome: the more spectacular, inspiring and interactive, the better. The day is organised around the following activities, but you are free to choose the one that matches your topic best:

  • Speed lectures lasting 10 or 20 minutes (including question time), in which you present your field of research in an engaging and entertaining way.
  • A stand in Stakladen with hands-on experiments, workshops, exhibits or other activities that involve the public.
  • Interdisciplinary panel discussions or workshops that involve the audience.

AU's Events and Communication Support are responsible for all the practical organisation including rooms, poster walls, power sockets for the stands etc. and for marketing the event – so you can just focus on your own activity.

The deadline for registration is Friday 1 March 2019

You can register via the registration form (pdf in Danish) which you should fill out and send to Project Manager Charlotte Boel at cbo@au.dk no later than Friday 1 March. Write an easily understandably description of the research you want to present (max. five lines) and add a catchy heading which can be used as a teaser for your activity in the widely distributed programme.

The university is expecting at least a thousand visitors to the Festival of Research – a free science event open to everyone. AU will generate a lot of addition around the event in the lead up, among other things by distributing the event programme to approx. 150,000 households in and around Aarhus and using banners and digital billboards in the city, as well as social media advertising and direct marketing to relevant stakeholders. The university also makes a special effort to generate media coverage of the event and the research that is presented on the day.
