Health to begin the search for a new vice-dean for research
Vice-dean OIe Steen Nielsen will not be reapplying for the position of vice-dean for research when his employment contract expires next summer. After nine years in the post, inclusive a period as acting dean, he wishes to leave the position and retire.
Although Vice-dean Ole Steen Nielsen's contract still has a year remaining, he has already told the dean that he does not wish to continue in the position.
“I’ve reached an age where I have the opportunity to retire and I wish to take the chance to do so. For me it’s therefore natural to announce my decision now so that the faculty has plenty of time to find my replacement,” says Vice-dean Ole Steen Nielsen.
Ole Steen Nielsen has been vice-dean for research at Health since 2011 after previously holding the position of head of the cancer department at Aarhus University Hospital. During a period from 2016-2017 he was furthermore acting dean during the time between Allan Flyvbjerg and Lars Bo Nielsen.
At that time Ole Steen Nielsen also openly said that he would not be applying for the vacant position as dean. He says:
“I’m very happy to be vice-dean for research at Health and I appreciate the opportunities it’s given me to shape the faculty when it comes to research. So my commitment and my job satisfaction will be unchanged from now until I leave next year.”
According to Dean Lars Bo Nielsen, the recruitment process will begin as soon as possible and the position will be widely advertised.
