Christmas greetings from the Dean

Allan Flyvbjerg wishes all employees at Health a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Dear Colleagues,

As Christmas is approaching, l would like to take the opportunity to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I want to thank every one of you for all your efforts in 2015.

This year, the Faculty of Health has - and will be - affected by a change in the political landscape due to the parliamentary elections in June. Accordingly, the universities will be exposed to significant cut-backs on both public and private research funding. Further, the educational economy is under pressure as well.

Despite these financial challenges, we refuse to compromise on our high quality and the ongoing development at the faculty. We will continue our hard efforts to achieve the strategic goals that are drawn up in our Faculty Strategy for the years 2013-2020.

Accordingly, in 2016 we will give a high priority to the following three strategic focus areas:

  1. To maintain a healthy and balanced economy
  2. To gain institutional accreditation in 2016
  3. To increase the volume of external research funding

lt is a very important goal for 2016 to maintain a healthy and balanced economy, since a balanced economy is a prerequisite for sustaining a well-functioning faculty with an ongoing development.

At the Faculty of Health, we continuously strive to strengthen the quality of our educations. In addition to this, we also have a responsibility to contribute to the common goal at Aarhus University, i.e. to gain institutional accreditation in 2016.

An increase in external research funding is essential, since this is more or less the only way to ensure significant growth at the Faculty. This is not a new strategic focus, but we will continue our hard efforts in this area.

Finally, once again l would like to thank you for all your efforts in 2015. Each of you has contributed to our success, and l look forward to a continued fruitful cooperation with you in 2016.

On behalf of the entire staff at the Dean's Office, l send you all the best wishes for the Christmas and New Year's Seasons.
