CESU has a new senior associate professor for the postgraduate area
Bente Vigh Malling has taken up the position of senior associate professor for Postgraduate Medical Competence Development at the Centre for Health Sciences Education (CESU).
She makes no secret of the fact that she has landed her dream job, allowing her to combine research while also helping to improve the training of medical specialists.
"The job gives me the opportunity to focus even more on research within medical education while I also can influence the quality of continuing medical education in Denmark. This is the ideal combination for me and I cannot wait to start working," says Bente Vigh Malling.
Will focus on medical education
As senior associate professor at CESU, her working day comprises tasks such as e.g. initiating, facilitating and carrying out research into medical study programmes with a special focus on postgraduate medical competence development. Bente Vigh Malling will also be part of regional and national councils and committees, as well as having the task of creating and developing international relations focusing on research into medical education.
"In collaboration with the postgraduate clinical associate professors, I will also communicate, provide advice and quality assure the medical specialist training in the Further Education Region North. We must ensure that the education meets the requirements made by the healthcare sector to newly-qualified medical specialists," says Bente Vigh Malling.
Working with medical specialist training is not new to Bente Vigh Malling. During the past twenty years, she has worked in the area on many different levels, influencing the development of medical education in her role of clinical supervisor and as consultant and head of degree programme. This was also her most recent position. At the same time, she has been postgraduate clinical associate professor since 2002 and has contributed with research in the field internationally.
Bente Vigh Malling will be a member of the management team at CESU. Together with the head of secretariat for the Further Education Region North, she will have managerial responsibility for fifty postgraduate clinical associate professors in the region.
