Cancer researcher appointed as new professor at AU and AUH
Jesper Grau Eriksen has just been appointed professor at Aarhus University and Aarhus University Hospital. Here he will help to strengthen the oncology department’s research into personalised medicine, including individualised radiation therapy for patients with cancer of the mouth, pharynx and throat.
Each year, about 1,500 patients are affected by cancer of the mouth, pharynx or throat in Denmark. Jesper Grau Eriksen, new professor at AU and AUH, will in part use his professorship to conduct research into the cancer tumours that return despite a completed course of radiation therapy.
The objective is to tailor radiation treatment to the individual patient and thus ensure a better control of the cancer with as few side effects as possible.
