Be like Bob: Don’t be an information security risk

A new video shows you what to do if you take the bait of a phishing mail - which is an email trying to trick us into giving sensitive personal information to cybercriminals.

Don’t be ashamed if you take the bait. The best thing to do is to be open and react quickly.

This is Bob. Be like Bob. This is the message of a new video about how to react if you happen to fall for a phishing mail.

Don’t be ashamed if you take the bait. The best thing to do is to be open and react quickly.

If you fall for a phishing mail, you should ...

  1. change your password immediately
  2. call AU’s IT support and tell them what happened
  3. tell your co-workers about it so they don’t make the same mistake

What is phishing?

The cybercriminals who send out phishing emails usually masquerade as senders you trust, such as the tax authorities, your bank, etc. They send out these fake mails to people to share sensitive personal information or to install malware. You should never click on links or attached files in mails if you are not 100% sure the mail is authentic.

Even though it can be hard to spot a phishing mail, especially a mail masquerading as a mail from Aarhus University, there are som clues you should know about.
