AU gets a new professor of general medical practice
Kaj Sparle Christensen has been appointed as a new professor of general medical practice at the Department of Public Health at Aarhus University. Here he carries out research and lectures in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders in general practice, among other things.
It should be easier for general practitioners to distinguish between healthy and ill patients. Kaj Sparle Christensen will therefore use his research to contribute to making the diagnosis of mental disorders more precise. The aim is to avoid both overtreatment and undertreatment. He would also like to test new conversation techniques in general practice that can contribute to a better treatment of patients with mental disorders and patients suffering from multiple diseases (multimorbidity).
The newly appointed professor has particular focus on testing psychometric forms and diagnostic procedures, and on the evaluation of new methods for improving the handling of mental disorders and multimorbidity.
