AU gets a new Doctor of Medical Science

Eigil Kjeldsen, professor of cancer cytogenetics at Aarhus University and consultant at Aarhus University Hospital, has just been awarded a higher doctoral degree in medicine.

Eigil Kjeldsen is a new Doctor of Medical Science at Aarhus University. He conducts research into precision medicine with particular focus on acquired chromosomal abnormalities in connection with leukaemia and lymphoma in children and adults.

As a part of his doctoral dissertation, Eigil Kjeldsen has examined whether a so-called oaCGH analysis can identify chromosome abnormalities in leukaemia patients. In the long term, his research will help to target the treatment of leukaemia and will benefit patients in the form of fewer side effects and more effective treatment.

Eigil Kjeldsen has just defended his higher doctoral dissertation with the title “Oligo-based array-CGH analysis as an adjunct tool in routine cytogenetic diagnostics of hematological malignancies."
